Fair Judging

The fair officially started last Wednesday.  Mark and I had to take a shift manning the 4-H building so we brought the kids along to see what the judges thought of their exhibits.  Samantha is part of 4-H but since she is not yet in 4th grade, she can show her exhibits but they are not judged.  She made a skirt, a pair of pajama pants, and two pillows.  Pretty impressive!
There was a cute farm display by the 4-H building, so I snapped this picture of my cutie pies....
Emma did excellent with all of her exhibits!  This is a blue ribbon she received for her pillowcases.
She received a red ribbon for some bean bags that she made.  We found a pattern for them online and they turned out very cute.  She is even going to make some for her younger cousins.
I think this blue ribbon is for her cookie baking contest.
And this red ribbon is for her Nutricious Breakfast contest!

She also was given a red ribbon for her sewing skills contest.
She earned a blue ribbon for keeping up her 4-H record book....100 out of 100 points possible!
Plus her cookies received a blue ribbon - they were great!  Overall, Emma earned five blue ribbons and four red ribbons.  We'll see what next year brings for her!
I am proud to say that even yours truly received a couple of blue ribbons.  I entered some homemade triple berry jam and some blueberry banana bread.  And since I entered them in the "Open Class" category, I made $2 per blue ribbon.  I'm rich!
Another aspect of the fair were our little Zumba dancers.  Clara and Samantha both danced with their Zumba classes and they were adorable.  Clara's class danced to "I'm a Little Teapot" and "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes."  Mostly she just got up there and jumped around.  But she wasn't at all shy about it!
Emma is also part of Samantha's Zumba class but she had other commitments that night.  Sam did great, and even had a solo that involved a cart wheel.  She has a natural rhythm that makes her a wonderful dancer!
Fair is now over and we can take a deep breath to recover from it.  It was a good experience for all of us and we will look forward to next year!
